There’s a particular way people say the word “fine.”
Not excited. Not frustrated.
Just a quiet shrug that says, “We don’t know what else to do.”
Dashboards and reports fall into that category far too often.
You’ve probably seen your own version of this.
A question comes up in a leadership meeting.
Everyone turns toward BI.
Someone promises to check.
A day or two passes.
By the time the numbers arrive, the decision has already been made — usually on instinct, a bit of experience, and a quiet hope that nothing blows up later.
Nobody calls it a problem. But everyone feels it.
The pattern behind these delays is always the same.
Nothing is wrong with the dashboard.
It just doesn’t give anyone the clarity they need in the moment they need it.
That’s why, on December 16th, I’m hosting the Data Story Design Masterclass for my German audience.
Not to teach chart types.
Not to add more dashboards to an organisation that already has plenty.
But to show the part of BI work that actually changes decision speed.
Here’s what we’ll walk through together:
- We make the problem visible.
The dashboards that look complete but leave your CFO asking for an Excel extract.
The ones that create more meetings than clarity.
The ones that give you everything… except the “what now?”
It’s almost funny how predictable this pattern is — in the same way a joke stops being funny after the tenth time you hear it.
- We define what a decision‑ready story actually looks like.
A simple sequence:
What happened → Why → So what → Now what.
For one role. One moment. One decision.
- We redesign a real data story, end‑to‑end.
Talk. Frame. Sketch. Build.
Nothing complicated.
Just the missing steps that turn “we need another report” into “this gives us what we need.”
There’s always a quiet moment in the room when people realise how much time slips away without a shared method.
- And yes — how AI can support the process.
Not as a magic solution.
More like the colleague who drafts the first version so you can focus on the thinking.
If you’ve ever felt that your teams work hard yet decisions still arrive too late, this session will make the picture clearer.
I’d be glad to have you with us.
